eBay Encourages Sellers to Offer Volume Discounts

eBay logoeBay is running a promotion to encourage sellers to offer volume discounts as a way to boost sales. eBay introduced the ability for sellers to offer such discounts last month.

eBay kicked off the promotion on Friday and posted it on the announcement board today, and it runs through November 21st:

“You can now offer your customers the chance to save when they buy more than one of the same item by offering volume pricing. This new experience allows them to easily add more items to their cart and you to increase your sales.

“Activate the offer on new or existing listings for qualifying items and get a 50% refund on your final value fees on any item(s) beyond the first item sold before Nov. 21, 2018.

“Now is the time to update your listings in Seller Hub under the Promotions tab.”

Seller response was generally positive when the new feature was announced last month. “Oh, I love this improvement,” one reader wrote. “For MQFP listings with free shipping it is a game changer. I’ll be revising a bunch of listings today.” Another reader pointed out it’s only good for those who sell multiples of the same item – “it should be PER seller total and NOT per item,” they said.

You can visit this page on eBay to learn more about the feature. And eBay devoted its weekly chat on Wednesday to discussing the feature.

  1. HEY FLEECEBAY ya all have to find a buyer for something in order to offer volume discounts. HEY EBAY ALL YOUR BUYERS ARE SHOPPING ON OTHER SITES NOW,

  2. Boost whose sales….the sellers or eBay’s? Another glorious idea brought to by the greed monsters at eBay. Race you to the bottom!!!

  3. Most Ebay sellers – like myself – only have 1 – that’s ONE ‘ of each unique item. That’s why I SHOP on Ebay – to find unique things I can NOT find in stores. Very few ever buy more than 1. in fact very few are buying ANY of my things anymore. I am going to have to find another way to sell my new and like new upscale modern quality couture. I don’t think my listings are even being seen. I don’t get what is going on, but to try to make Ebay like Amazon is stupid. they are two different things completely. When JPC was bought and “revised” 5 years ago by engineers and attorneys – it went down the tubes. that’s what is happening.
