Etsy Starts Rolling Out New Subscription Plan Called Plus

Etsy logo

Etsy logoEtsy began rolling out its new subscription plan today. It had announced Etsy Plus in mid-June, but sellers can be forgiven if they don’t remember it since it was introduced at the same time as a fee hike and fee restructuring.

Etsy is offering two plans sellers can subscribe to – Etsy Premium will become available next year. Both plans are optional. The Plus plan costs $20/month but is discounted to $10/month through the end of the year. The fee for Etsy Premium will be announced next year.

Sellers who sign up for Etsy Plus receive features such as advanced shop customization and discounts on custom packaging and promotional materials. They can offer shoppers “restock requests,” which Etsy describes as follows: “Let shoppers who visit sold out listings sign up to be notified when the item is back in stock.”

And Etsy Plus subscribers are entitled to 15 listing credits/month (a $3 value) and $5/month in Promoted Listings (ad) credits.

Announcement follows:

We’re gradually making Etsy Plus available to some sellers today, and plan to have it available to all sellers later this month.

Etsy Plus gives you access to advanced features to help you express your unique brand, stand out from the crowd, and take your business to the next level—in addition to all the tools you already know and love.

Keep an eye out for Etsy Plus in your Shop Manager—you’ll see a new “Your subscription” area under “Settings” when it’s available in your shop.

In the meantime, learn more about Etsy Plus here.

  1. Etsy Plus = a bust. It’s lacking and resembles the failing Etsy Pattern. For $10 (going up to $20 in Jan 2019) a month, you get a measly $3 in lisiting fees and the opportunity to spend $5 in adverting on Etsy, new banner options and custom URL. Really? These are NOT “expanded tools to express your unique brand and jump-start growth”. How in the world is a banner option / site design going to help me grow my business? It’s smoke and mirrors; another Etsy distraction. Sellers are afraid if they do not upgrade they will fall in rank and SEO and therefore lose sales. This is simply a means to generate more revenue for Etsy, while giving sellers nothing substantial.

What we need: options to increase sales: more advertising opportunities, press options, better reporting, email options and overall, more control of our stores.
