Etsy Tests Guest Checkout for Digital Downloads

EtsyEtsy launched a guest checkout feature in April that allows buyers to buy an item without creating an Etsy account. On Wednesday, Etsy announced it is testing guest checkout for digital goods.

Announcement follows:

In April, we introduced guest checkout for Etsy.com, making it possible for buyers to purchase without making an account on Etsy.

We’ve been listening to your feedback and have heard how important it is for sellers with digital listings to be able to accept guest purchases as well. Beginning this week, we are testing digital download purchases through guest checkout on Etsy.com. When a guest buyer purchases a digital download, they will receive the link to download their file in their order receipt email—there’s nothing you need to send.

We’ll continue to monitor this test over the coming weeks and will let you know if this becomes a permanent feature. Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and for being an active part of the Etsy community!
