Etsy Runs Test of Search Filters in the Jewelry Category

When searching for products online, shoppers often find it helpful to be able to refine their search to zero in on what they’re looking for. Etsy is testing new filters in the Jewelry category to determine what works best in helping shoppers narrow their search and published the following post on its announcement board on Tuesday:

Today we’re starting a test related to the search results shoppers will see when they search for jewelry on Etsy. We’ll be adding new filters to the results page that allow shoppers to narrow their search by choosing from relevant filter options. For example, if a shopper searches “ring” they may see filter options for material, gemstone, or color.

Our goal is to learn more about the types of filters that are most useful to shoppers so that they can easily find the items they’re looking for and ultimately make more purchases. We also want to ensure that we’re creating the most relevant attributes for your items to save you time.

During this test, we’ll base these filters and the corresponding search results on listing attributes and other details about your item gathered from your listings. Testing filtered results with as much information as possible will help us ensure that the design and filter choices we make are the right ones.

When we make permanent changes based on the findings of this test, we’ll update you. At that point, you’ll need to add additional listing attributes to ensure your items appear in the relevant filtered search results.
