Will You Tune in to the Etsy Conference Live Stream?

Etsy is holding its first ever Etsy Up conference this week and is expecting hundreds of sellers to attend the event in person in New York City. Etsy will also livestream some sessions on etsyup.com and will hold two live Q&A sessions on Facebook.

The 2-day event kicks off on Thursday, August 11 with a 10am keynote from Etsy CEO Chad Dickerson where he will share Etsy’s vision and values. Etsy is soliciting questions for speakers and panelists via Twitter using the hashtag #askEtsyUp, and will look for questions from the in-person and online audience during each session.

Questions are already coming in for Etsy’s CEO via Facebook.

A session likely to be of particular interest to Etsy sellers (but doesn’t appear to be slated for streaming) is a session called “Inside Etsy Search” where Senior Product Manager Jaime DeLanghe will explain the hows and whys of Etsy search and provide best practices for maximizing its efficacy.

In another session entitled “The Essentials of Online Advertising” on day 2, Etsy Product Marketing Manager Connie Xiao will explain how advertising an Etsy shop can be “an effective way to boost your brand’s visibility and increase your sales,” and she’ll address concepts such as building awareness, developing customer interest, and making the sale through online ads.

A session more targeted toward artisans is entitled, “How I Developed My Best Selling Product with Norwegian Wood.” The description reads, “Longtime maker and Etsy seller Angie Johnson knew she wanted to avoid one-hit-wonder syndrome. She didn’t want her brand to be all about a single item and over the years she’s had multiple bestsellers – but almost all of them are no longer in her shop! She’s learned the secret – every product, even the really successful ones, have a shelf life. But it’s not all about saying goodbye. Angie’s always creating fresh new products to keep her shop evolving and keep customers coming back for more. Learn Angie’s strategy for ongoing product development that has helped her be so successful.”

The program guide is available on the EtsyUp.com website. Interestingly, PayPal is sponsoring a cocktail reception for attendees on day one.
