Etsy Solicits Feedback about Forums

Etsy wants to improve its discussion forums and is surveying users for their feedback on how to make them better. Etsy welcomed everyone to take its survey, writing in a post on the boards, “The Forums are your place to connect with fellow Etsians and we want to hear your feedback on how we can make this shared community space even better.”

Forums are important to online sellers as a place to share information – often users of a particular platform may think they are the only ones experiencing a problem for instance – and it also helps bring problems to the attention of the platforms themselves.

In the survey hosted on SurveyGizmo.com, Etsy asks what kind of topics users seek to discuss when visiting the forums, and which topics they would like to see Etsy cover. These two questions seem to get at the reason Etsy is conducting the survey:

“Compared to now, how often do you think Etsy Admin should participate in Forums discussions?” and “Would you like to see more Admin Q&A threads?”

The survey starts off by asking users about themselves – if they are buyers, sellers or both; what types of goods they generally sell; and whether they are casual or serious sellers. It also asks how often they visit the Etsy forums.

Here are some of the questions from the survey along with the answers respondents could select:

Etsy wrote in its announcement, “Since the last Forums survey was posted, we’ve had many exciting changes! Two new Forums sections have been created, Admin involvement has increased, more engaging business content has been constructed, and many other community focused initiatives have been established. With your help, I’m looking forward to building on all the exciting things already happening here.”
