Etsy Projects Tool Helps Sellers Work with Manufacturers

Etsy launched a new tool to help sellers work with manufacturers on its Etsy Manufacturing platform. Note that sellers who use outside manufacturing help to produce items must apply for outside manufacturing approval prior to listing the items for sale on Etsy.

Etsy said using the Projects tool helps sellers send more detailed descriptions about their production needs to help manufacturers make faster, more informed decisions. “Manufacturers will receive structured information about your project, such as a project description, quantity needed, projected budget, and timeline.”

In addition to prompting sellers for key information, the Projects tool is also an organizational resource. Etsy explains, “You’ll also have a Project Dashboard where you can view the status of current projects, as well as old and cancelled projects. You can re-use any of these projects to create new projects, rather than entering all of the same information again.”

Presumably the new tool also provides Etsy with documentation about seller projects and insight it otherwise would not have.

Intrigued with the concept of using a manufacturer to create your products? Etsy has a new article detailing how three sellers teamed up with production partners “to help achieve their artistic vision,” you can find it in the Etsy Seller Handbook.

The company reminded sellers that Etsy Manufacturing includes manufacturers located in the United States and Canada, and said it was continually adding new manufacturers.
