eBay held a ribbon-cutting ceremony as it officially opened a new building at its headquarters in San Jose, California. While it’s a welcome center with conference space and a cafe for employees, eBay heralded the new 20,000 sq. foot space as a technology showcase.
“Today we open our new innovative building at eBay HQ, designed to showcase the pulse & energy of commerce,” the company tweeted.
eBay’s hometown newspaper wrote about the grand opening, explaining, “visitors will be welcomed and wowed with real-time displays of all that stuff people are buying and selling around the planet.”
eBay CEO Devin Wenig told attendees, “This is all about the future, all about our next chapter,” according to the Mercury News, which also quoted Brian Burke, eBay’s Director of Seller Experience: “We’ve never had a place like this for everyone to gather together. This building brings it all together. It connects that laser pointer from our earliest days with this wonderful building that shows us where we’re going to go.”
