Newegg to Support Sellers on Crowdfunding Platform

Newegg announced an innovative program to support sellers who are starting out or seeking to kickstart their businesses. The online marketplace is partnering with Indiegogo to support entrepreneurs who use the crowdfunding platform to generate financial support for their endeavors.

“Getting products in customers’ hands can be quite challenging,” the company stated. Through the new partnership, Newegg will jointly identify some of the most promising and innovative campaigns that have reached their funding goals on Indiegogo. Newegg will then offer to help with go-to-market strategies, shipping and sales to make sure finished products get in the hands of customers.

David Mandelbrot, CEO of Indiegogo, said, “Newegg’s massive distribution platform and streamlined fulfillment services provide the added visibility and support necessary to help Indiegogo’s community of tech entrepreneurs as they journey through the product lifecycle from concept to market.”

Newegg CEO Danny Lee said the Indiegogo community is filled with entrepreneurs eager to turn their dreams into reality. Indiegogo, which is similar to other crowdfunding platforms, takes a 5 percent cut of the funds raised through its hosted campaigns.

Newegg’s support will take many forms, including marketing assistance, merchandising, social exposure, order fulfillment, shipping and other logistical support, including the Shipped by Newegg (SBN) program.

Newegg’s head of Marketplace Sophia Tsao told EcommerceBytes the company started out as an entrepreneurial idea, and it likes to help businesses grow and flourish. “Another example of this,” she said, “is how we fight patent abusers, these so called “trolls” hurt everybody. By fighting them, it not only opens the way for small businesses, but also keep prices down for consumers.”
