eBay sellers in Canada received bad news on Tuesday – they must wait a few more weeks before they will receive access to new coupons the marketplace is making available to Store subscribers.
eBay raised the subscription fees for operating an eBay Store as part of the Spring Seller Update. At the time, eBay said Canadian registered Store subscribers would receive a new coupon that could be redeemed when purchasing eBay-branded shipping supplies, which are new to the company and include envelopes, boxes, and packing tape.
There was a mix-up, however – originally eBay said the coupons would be denominated in US dollars. But as Canadian sellers know, eBay Canada is moving to a single-currency marketplace and is no longer offering listings in US dollars.
On May 2nd, eBay Canada announced the new value of the coupon. For example, eBay originally announced Basic Store subscribers in Canada would receive a coupon worth $25 US, but later later said that the coupon would be worth $35 Canadian dollars. It provides the coupons on a quarterly basis.
At the time, eBay said the coupons will be issued by email to qualifying Canadian subscribers no later than May 31st 2016.
Meanwhile, eBay sellers in the US have already been able to access their coupons and use them to purchase eBay-branded shipping supplies.
It’s not clear if the denomination issue is the cause of the delay. eBay Canada announced on Tuesday, “We’re currently addressing technical issues with the Canadian coupons, and anticipate distributing them within the next 1-2 weeks. We apologize for the delay.”
You can find Tuesday’s announcement on the eBay Canada website.
