Aabaco Director Could Breathe New Life into Yahoo Stores

Aabaco is the new brand for what remains in many people’s minds “Yahoo Stores” and “Yahoo Small Business.” With fear, uncertainty, and doubt about the fate of parent company Yahoo, Aabaco’s announcement this week could provide some measure of comfort to online sellers using its platform.

Shirley Tan is joining Aabaco Small Business as Director of Product Support – and no one can doubt her credibility. She built a successful business on the Yahoo Merchant Solutions platform, growing it into a thriving ecommerce destination that was eventually acquired by popular wedding site The Knot.

She has spoken at many ecommerce conferences, and while Aabaco doesn’t use the term in its announcement, “seller evangelist” comes to mind:

“As Director of Product Support, Shirley will utilize her experience to educate and counsel Aabaco Small Business merchants on ways to grow their businesses through in-person events, thought-provoking content, and this blog. She’ll also be developing and rolling out key new services and working with our community to ensure that our merchants’ needs are considered every step of the way in our product development.”

We had a chance to ask Tan about her new role on Tuesday:

What do you look most forward to in your new position?

Shirley Tan: I have had the opportunity to work closely with the Aabaco team for the past several years, and I know they really care about their customers, work hard to provide excellent services, and truly want to see small businesses succeed. We share the same goals!

In my new role, I get to do what I love the most: help business owners fulfill their goal of financial freedom and growth. This will include connecting with merchants and speaking at industry conferences and customer events, sharing tips and best practices via blog posts and articles, and working with my Aabaco Small Business team to continue to develop and roll out key new services and products that meet our merchants’ needs.

What top advice do you have for Aabaco Store owners for getting the most out of Aabaco merchant support?

Shirley Tan: My advice would be to regularly check our Tumblr, Twitter and Facebook pages for updates, news, and tips. In addition, you can reach our Customer Care directly on Facebook or Twitter at ASBCares. We love to hear directly from our merchants, so encourage you to reach out and message us directly with any feedback or questions.

Anything else online sellers should know for now?

Shirley Tan: I’m thrilled to be a part of the Aabaco Small Business team and look forward to creating the best possible experience for you.

You can find the full announcement on the Yahoo Small Business blog hosted on Tumblr.
