eBay Entices Users to Sell through New Coupon Promotion

eBay is getting creative with its promotions. Its latest invitation to users came with the subject line, “Start the year with more cash” and promises to give a coupon that grow each time an item sells.

The coupon promotion kicked off on January 8 and runs through the 18th.

Eligible sellers can receive a $5 coupon for the first item that sells under the promotion; a second sale increases the coupon to $15; the third sale results in a $30 coupon, and sellers lucky enough to sell four items under the promotion will see the coupon grow to $50. (To be clear, it’s limited to one coupon, not four.)

“Sell and make money to fund your passions,” the invitation reads. “Now through January 18, the more you sell, the bigger the Coupon you can earn.”

Readers should be aware that shoppers have been running into difficulties redeeming rewards on eBay of late. The latest example – a reader reported a problem redeeming a coupon for a “Pursue your passions” promotion that expires on Tuesday.
