eBay Gives Incentives for Selling Popular Holiday Gifts

eBay has been running a number of promotions to get sellers listing, but beyond specifying the format (fixed price or auction) or duration, it doesn’t get specific about exactly what products sellers should list.

But with one type of seller promotion, it’s doing just that.

The Holiday Selling promotion provides invited sellers with the opportunity to sell certain popular items and receive 50% off Final Value Fees for up to 10,000 items within each category if they are listed and sell during the promotion period. The promotion kicked off on October 24th and run through December 31st.

So, for example, sellers who activate a promotion for Golf Range Finders and list them between October 24 – December 31st receive the FVF discount for items that sell.

Another product in the promotion is for new Rosetta Stone software – that kicked off on November 25th.

Other items included new Funko branded toys under $20; select new power tools over $100; and new small kitchen appliances.

eBay also began a Hot Items promotion on October 22 that runs through December 31, 2015. Sellers can receive up to $500 back in seller fees in the form of a gift card for eligible items that sell.

It’s an interesting way for eBay to encourage sellers to list the items it wants to be sure to have in stock during the holiday season – a problem its rival Amazon doesn’t have, since eBay doesn’t sell inventory itself while Amazon does.

Sellers should be sure to read the details and restrictions of such promotions before activating.
