eBay is running a month-long promotion encouraging sellers to list more – but the free-listing promotion has a number of restrictions. In addition to being by invitation only (as is the norm with eBay promotions these days), it’s for eBay Store subscribers only – and, according to the email, only “our most valuable subscribers.”
In fact, on the eBay Canada discussion boards, sellers speculated on how eBay chose which sellers could participate.
eBay explains in its invitation, “This Promotion is intended to double the eBay Store subscriber allotment for the month of August.”
There are three levels of eBay Store subscriptions. According to the invitation, sellers who activate the promotion will receive up to 150 fixed-price listings for Basic Stores, 500 fixed-price listings for Premium Stores, and 2,500 fixed-price listings for Anchor Store.
In addition, eBay is giving storeowners 100 free auction-style listings in collectibles categories for all Store tiers during the promotion.
“The Promotion includes 1-, 3-, 5-, 7-, 10-, 30-day and Good ’till canceled listing durations, as well as relisted items,” eBay explained. “Auction-style listings with 1- or 3-day durations will not be charged an insertion fee, but will be subject to the special duration listing upgrade fee. Auction-style Buy It Now is excluded from this promotion.”
A seller who started a thread on the eBay boards about the promotion was excited, and seemed especially pleased that not only did they have a month to list, but that it also included relists. eBay has generally been limiting promotions to new listings only.
All other fees apply, see eBay website for details and restrictions for this month-long summer promotion.
