eBay named Daniel Tarman Chief Communications Officer, the company announced Monday.Tarman will join the company following the breakup of eBay and PayPal and will report to eBay CEO-designee Devin Wenig. He will become part of eBay’s executive leadership team.
Tarman joins eBay from PIMCO, the world’s largest bond investment management firm, with $1.6 trillion in assets under management. During his eight years at the company, he served as Executive Vice President and Global Head of Corporate Communications.
Before that, he was Managing Director, Corporate Communications & Brand Marketing at Countrywide Financial Corporation. According to his bio on PR association AW Page Society, Tarman managed Countrywide’s crisis communications efforts during the mortgage meltdown of 2007, helping to protect and manage its reputation.
Prior to Countrywide, Tarman held senior communications positions at VISA, and the global public relations agency Burson-Marsteller.
According to eBay’s announcement, Tarman will lead eBay’s global communications function responsible for brand and reputation management, employee communications, social innovation and the eBay Foundation. He replaces Alan Marks.
