Amazon notified sellers in the UK of a new policy around the way it displays shipping delivery estimates to customers. Effective March 2, 2015, Amazon UK will display new shipping transit times for listings from professional sellers in all categories.
The marketplace said the change was designed to provide improved accuracy in estimated delivery times for buyers. The changes impact domestic and international deliveries, with sellers of BMVD (Books, Music, Video and DVD) impacted the most.
For example, shipping transit times for BMVD sellers for Expedited Shipping will change from 1-1 days to the new 1-2 days, while Standard Shipping transit time will change from 3-12 days to 3-5 days, and Rest of World Standard Shipping will change from the current transit time of 7-35 days to 6-19 days.
One seller said they hoped it would prevent shoppers from being scared away by long ship-times by showing them shorter, more realistic delivery estimates.
