Long gone are the days when online sellers would eagerly await eBay’s free listing day each December 25th, which was meant to boost listings for post-Christmas shoppers. Now every seller gets a certain amount of free listings throughout the year, and most of eBay’s sales promotions are by invitation only and often restrict the sale to fixed-price listings.
Such is the case this year, when eBay sent invitations only to a subset of sellers offering them free fixed-price listings through January 4th. The company is also running a promotion in the UK.
The eBay.com promotion is available only to sellers who received an invitation. They can list up to 2,014 listings and pay no insertion fees throughout the course of promotion.
All existing selling limits as well as category and item limits apply and may prevent sellers from creating the maximum number of listings. 3, 5, 7, and 10-day listing durations are included, and fees for optional listing upgrades apply. (Be sure to note that Good Til Cancelled and 30-day listing durations are excluded.)
The promotion kicks off today, December 26 and runs through January 4, 2015. All other fees apply, see eBay website for details and restrictions.
In the UK, meanwhile, sellers can list up to 100 listings using auction or fixed-price listings and pay no insertion fees through January 6, 2015 – however, only private (casual) sellers can participate. In addition, eligible sellers can add certain upgrades to their listings, including Gallery Plus, Buy It Now, subtitle, listing designer, and scheduler.
Participation is linked to the seller’s account and is not transferable, and sellers must be registered as a resident in the UK. All other fees apply, see details and restrictions on the eBay UK website.
