Alibaba’s 11 Main Promotion to Cover Sellers’ Shipping Costs

The 11 Main marketplace that Alibaba launched in the U.S. this year is launching a major promotion in which it will cover shipping costs up to $5 per shipment on all orders provided they are sent via USPS. Since many small sellers are loath to eat the cost of shipping, the promotion allows 11 Main to attract holiday shoppers looking for free shipping. And it provides sellers an incentive to print postage right on the platform.

President Mike Effle told EcommerceBytes 11 Main was extremely committed to the success of shop owners. “As such, we wanted to introduce ways to help enable sales and engagement. Our partnership with USPS allows 11 Main shop owners to offer a compelling shipping offer and additional savings to consumers – after all, merchant-funded shipping isn’t free shipping.”

Shop owners must offer a Free Standard Continental US Shipping option for all the items in their shop in order to qualify, and they must purchase USPS labels for those shipments in the Shop Center.

The 11Main.com promotion kicks off on October 21, and runs through Cyber Monday (December 1st).

Effle said, “We’ll continue to look for ways to work together with our shop owners and give 11 Main shoppers the very best shopping experience possible.”

The marketplace launched this year; a spokesperson said the company does not share information such as the number of shop owners or GMV.
