eBay Expands Global Shipping Program in UK

eBay has added eight new countries to the Global Shipping Program on eBay.co.uk. Beginning next month, the GSP program will allow shoppers in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Brazil, and Russia to shop from UK sellers using the Program.

Countries currently in the program include Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden.

eBay launched GSP in the U.S. in September 2012 and launched the program in the UK last month.

“The Global Shipping Programme is an easy way for business and private sellers to reach millions more buyers with minimal changes to your current processes. This programme is designed for sellers who don’t currently offer international postage on listings. The Global Shipping Programme works by automatically showing international postage costs on your eligible listings to prospective buyers in other countries at no additional cost to you.”

However, the program has been controversial in the U.S.; the chief complaint is that U.S. sellers’ listings appear too expensive compared to the items offered by domestic sellers.
