Merchants Rate Online Payment Services in Sellers Choice Awards

Each year online sellers have the opportunity to rate the online payments services they use to process their ecommerce payments in the Sellers Choice Awards, and this year’s results were published in Sunday’s EcommerceBytes Update newsletter.

Readers evaluated 13 online payment services on five criteria: fee structure; dispute resolution process; account holds, rolling reserves and restrictions; popularity among customers (buyers); and customer service.

The top four services in the 2014 Sellers Choice Awards were Stripe, with an overall score of 8.05, Square (7.65), Amazon Payments (6.99), and PayPal (6.97). And while PayPal remains the most popular of payment services among EcommerceBytes readers participating in the ratings, the gap is closing.

The Sellers Choice survey results also found that 47% of respondents accept credit card payments; 52% accept cash payments; and 6% accept a mobile payment service.
