Citi Launches Payments Wallet for Online Shoppers

Citi credit card members can now more quickly and conveniently make purchases at thousands of online merchants with the launch of the Citi Wallet, the company announced this week. While companies such as PayPal and Google have launched digital wallets, Citi says it’s the first global bank to introduce its own branded digital wallet in the U.S.

By enrolling in Citi Wallet, Citi card-members no longer have to enter their credit card, billing and shipping information when making purchases at thousands of merchants. The head of Citi Enterprise Payment Solutions Barry Rodrigues said Citi Wallet reduces online checkout to just a couple clicks.

Citi Wallet is available to all Citi U.S. consumer credit card-members who must register their Citi credit card at www.citi.com/citiwallet using the same login credentials used to manage the Citi account online.

Not all online stores accept the Citi Wallet however – only where MasterCard’s MasterPass is accepted. But you can use Citi Wallet with any Citi branded consumer credit card, including Visa, MasterCard and American Express.

When paying with Citi Wallet at a participating merchant, shoppers look for and select the MasterPass button. They then select Citi Wallet and log in using the same username and password used to manage the credit card account online, then confirm shipping address and complete the purchase.
