eBay is kicking off a promotion today encouraging business sellers located in the UK to list their items on four other European websites. And eBay UK is providing a powerful incentive for those sellers who are eligible to participate: it’s free for sellers to list on those four sites: Germany, France, Italy and Spain. The catch, if you will, is that the promotion is by invitation only.
Invited sellers can list auction or fixed-priced listings and pay no insertion fees – and in a rare move, no commission fees either. The eBay UK promotion runs through October 7, 2014.
It’s possible the promotion is being subsidized by a third-party translation service. A page describing an accompanying webinar eBay is presenting called “Getting Started with the International Selling Promotion” states that participants will also learn how to manage translation of their eBay listings via WebInterpret.
To take part in this promotion, sellers must be registered on eBay.co.uk as businesses and as resident in the UK. eBay is limiting the promo to sellers to whom it invites via email, telemarketing (with a follow up email) or a message in My eBay Messages.
Participation is linked to the invited business seller’s account and is not transferable. Only business sellers whose accounts meet eBay’s minimum seller performance standards are eligible.
Only items listed directly on ebay.de, ebay.fr, ebay.it or ebay.es using the auction-style or fixed price formats during the promotion will be eligible for zero insertion fees and zero Final Value Fees, and selling restrictions apply.
Any eligible item previously scheduled to start during the promotion will qualify for the promotion, and Good til Cancelled listings that automatically renew during the promotion will also qualify for the promotion.
All other fees apply, see eBay UK website for details and restrictions.
