eBay announced a puzzling rate change for USPS Ground Advantage shipments for shipping labels purchased through its platform through what is known as eBay Labels. It’s puzzling because the rate change is in effect for only 3 weeks, and because it affects a subset of certain weight-zone combinations.
eBay offers shipping labels through the USPS Connect eCommerce program that allows platforms and marketplaces to offer discounted shipping rates to their merchants. But we were unable to find a similar 3-week rate-change announcement on other platforms or marketplaces.
However, USPS is making changes to Mail and Shipping rates that take effect on July 12th. In our coverage of its recent announcement, we noted that sellers should be especially aware of changes coming to large lightweight packages.
And according to Supply Chain Dive, one of the changes going into effect in July impacts packages weighing under a pound. The change would apply rates currently for shipments weighing between 12 and 15.999 ounces to all sub-pound parcels within the category – a change that would result in an average price increase of 11.8% for Ground Advantage Commercial for those packages weighing under 1 pound, according to the publication.
In eBay’s announcement on May 18, it stated: “USPS has announced a temporary price update for some Ground Advantage shipments effective May 18th, 2026 to June 7th, 2026. These changes apply to USPS Ground Advantage rates when you purchase labels through eBay Labels.” See the full post on the eBay Seller Announcement board.
