Etsy is making a change that allows sellers more flexibility in setting their order-processing schedules. However, it’s making the default a setting that some might find burdensome, so sellers should pay attention to the change.
On Tuesday, Etsy announced:
“We’re introducing a new shipping setting for sellers in the US and Canada that allows you to make your order processing schedule even more accurate by specifying which holidays you process orders on. You can choose which national postal holidays you process orders on, and leave out the ones that you don’t.”
Etsy will make all national postal holidays included as processing days by default beginning on July 24 unless sellers have updated their preferences in “Shipping Settings.”
“The new holiday setting is designed to accurately reflect your schedule,” Etsy said. “Adding a holiday into your schedule means you’re able to process (package or prepare) orders on that day.”
Etsy said it may expand the change to new regions, but for now it is limited to sellers in the US and Canada. “Labor Day (US) and Civic Holiday (CAN) are the first holidays this year that will take your holiday schedule into account.” (Canada’s Civic Holiday in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Newfoundland & Labrador falls on August 5 this year. Labor Day falls on September 6 in the US this year.)
If you don’t want to have your processing times include holidays, be sure to change your settings.
