Etsy Offers 10% Off Gift Cards through June 17th

Etsy is running a Father’s Day promotion that offers shoppers the chance to receive 10% off on gift cards ($50 minimum). That means buyers can get a $50 Etsy gift card for $45.

Etsy sent a marketing email to shoppers with the following messaging:

“Stumped on how to surprise your dad? Now until June 17, get 10% off gift cards $50+.* He’s sure to love it, because we all know the best present is getting to pick your present.”

Clicking on the link in the email brought shoppers to a page with the following messaging: “Celebrate dads and grads with 10% off gift cards $50+! Code GiftCard10″” and it included the following terms:

“Ends June 17, 2024 9:00am EST. Min. $50 gift card purchase value. While supplies last. Open to US residents only. Maximum discount of $100. One time use only. Not redeemable for cash or combinable with other offers. Non-transferable. Discount is applied to gift card purchase amount. Terms apply.”

Father’s Day falls on June 16, 2024, see the Etsy website for information about its gift cards.

  1. *** Because it was just a fluke ***

If you google search for “Etsy CNBC Video” you will find a video that CNBC created on May 19th.

The video interviews two Etsy Sellers who talk about how the site has lost it’s way with all the issues that many of us talk about…all the cheap products, all the overseas products, and all the products that have turned the site into just another mass produced venue.

CNBC talked about how well Etsy did during Covid, especially with mask sales that gave Etsy good earnings. However, after Covid, the site fell flat with little growth. CNBC considered Etsys temporary success as “just a fluke”.

Also said, was that Buyers would make only one purchase and never again return to Etsy while many Sellers blame CEO Silverman for Etsy’s downfall.

In my opinion, Etsy’s latest Father’s Day promotion won’t help with sales. CEO Silverman says that consumers are struggling with inflation which is the real issue why sales have slumped. I don’t see it that way. Etsy ran the company into the ground because Etsy did not make Etsy unique for the upscale buyer with expendable cash.

I’m an artisan jeweler on Etsy and I’m seeing an exodus of good producing jewelers who are leaving Etsy after being on Etsy for over 10 years. Sellers see the writing on the wall. Etsy is on the decline…
