eBay Fall Seller Update 2024 Includes Changes to Feedback, No Change to Fees

eBay is rolling out the Fall Seller Update for 2024 today, and as we posted on the EcommerceBytes Blog, it includes changes to the eBay feedback policy likely to have implications for sellers – and there are no changes to seller fees in the fall update.

eBay is rolling out changes in two phases. This month, the following changes take effect:

  • Create studio-quality photos for free with our latest AI background enhancement tool.
  • Store subscribers, easily monitor the success of your discounts with the redesigned Summary and Discount pages.
  • Know the market value of your items and price them like a pro with the Product research tool.
  • Get access to the funding you need, whenever you need it, with Flexible Cash Advance.
  • Our Feedback Policy has been updated to better protect your business and ensure we’re being fair to both our buyers and sellers.
  • Ship with confidence with ShipCover’s expanded USPS insurance coverage, now safeguarding items up to $5,000.

And in December, the following changes will take effect:

  • Update your listings to comply with the General Product Safety Regulations if you sell to buyers in the EU and Northern Ireland.
  • Take advantage of eBay International Shipping’s increased item value limit on transactions to Canada.

The feedback policy change is among the most significant changes for all sellers. eBay said it would now remove negative or neutral feedback in the following cases:

  • When a buyer asks to cancel an order after placing it and the seller denies their request. Per eBay policy, sellers have the discretion to accept or deny a cancellation request.
  • When a buyer changes their mind about their purchase and references being charged for the cost of an eBay return label.

Store sellers will also see changes, including the ability to “see how your discounts are impacting your sales.” A redesigned Summary page gives Store sellers an overall snapshot of their promotional activity, and a new Discounts page “uses fresh new graphics and performance metrics to give you a clearer view of how your offers are performing, and ensures that you have all the information you need to optimise your business.”

eBay is also providing Store sellers the ability to “easily create posts to share with your buyers across your social platforms to drive more visits to your listings.”

eBay created a main landing page for the Fall Seller Update that outlines the changes in detail, and it will be taking questions on the discussion boards once it posts the news on the eBay Seller Announcement board. (Don’t necessarily expect a speedy response to your questions – eBay advised sellers to “Please allow us 24-72 hours to provide an answer to your question.”)

Let us know what you think of the Fall Update changes and how they’ll impact you, and visit the EcommerceBytes Blog post to leave comments about the Feedback policy change.

  1. Ebay got 4 fee increase already thanks to the USPS. They don’t even have to worry about adding one anymore.

  2. Every little move to make Feedback less biased in favor of buyers – as it is now – is welcome. Much more could be done though. Including my pet peeve of not being able, as a seller, to leave negative feedback for buyers who don’t pay. eBay should allow sellers to do so, and not allow buyers to leave feedback for the seller in such cases. MEGA: Make eBay Great Again.
