Sellers Helped Raise $192 Million for eBay's Charity Program

eBay sellers helped the company’s charity program raise over $192 million worldwide in 2024, an 18% increase over last year. eBay called it a record-shattering amount and said eBay for Charity has helped its community raise over $1.3 billion since the program’s inception.

The program lets sellers donate a percentage of the proceeds of their sales to the charity of their choice. Charitable organizations can sell on eBay to raise money for their organization, in which case eBay automatically chooses 100% as the donation percentage for those sellers and provides the proceeds from their sales directly to the charity.

In addition, eBay buyers can add a donation to purchases during checkout through the program, which launched in 2003.

eBay announced the milestone in a post on its corporate blog. Sellers interested in eBay for Charity can find the Terms and Conditions on this page.

    OK and?

eBay made $2BILLION last year – why involve sellers at all ?

    1. You say…”eBay made $2BILLION last year – why involve sellers at all ?”
      Why not?!
Seems like everyone is happy…Ebay, Sellers and the Charity.

  2. I’ll go slowly …

If eBay made $2 billion – then why get sellers or buyers involved – they have the cash to do it on their own.

If sellers or buyers want to donate – why do they need eBay for?

IE – its a game to make eBay look like “good guys”, when they are simply the San Jose Mafia …
