Some USPS Rates on eBay to Drop on August 22

eBay informed sellers of lower USPS shipping costs for select shipments beginning August 22nd. But significantly, the lower rates won’t impact packages going to buyers in rural ZIP codes.

Ground Advantage: Rates will decrease for 2lb packages across Zones 1–8

Priority Mail: Rates will decrease for packages weighing up to 10lbs shipping to Zone 8

Sellers who use eBay’s shipping calculator do not have to do anything – the calculator will automatically update with the new rates when they take effect on August 22, 2026.

It’s unclear why USPS continues to tweak rates for shipping labels purchased on online marketplaces. eBay recently announced an increase in rates for certain Ground Advantage shipments effective August 8, 2026. That followed a post about new rates for certain Ground Advantage rates that took effect on July 25, 2026. And that announcement followed posts about the USPS new rates going into effect on July 12, and for Ground Advantage rate changes on June 22nd.

eBay said in its August 19 announcement post, “We’ll continue to keep you updated as shipping rates change so you have the latest information as quickly as possible.”
