eBay Tweaks Amazon Prime-Like Program in Germany

eBay Plus is eBay’s version of Amazon’s Prime program in Germany and Australia, offering free, fast shipping by sellers. In the coming months, eBay will make changes in how it displays fast, free shipping to buyers in Germany. A new “Top Service” badge will replace the eBay Plus and eBay Guarantee badges currently displayed.

eBay Top Service will highlight offers with “excellent” delivery and service standards – although the eBay Plus loyalty program for buyers will continue to exist. (Buyers pay €19.90/year in Germany and $4.99/month in Australia for eBay Plus. It is not available in the US.)

eBay Germany explained to sellers (translation via Google Translate):

“No registration is necessary for eBay Top Service. The logo will appear automatically in your offers in the future if you meet all the requirements.

“eBay Top Service will replace the eBay Guarantee and the eBay Plus logo. This will not affect the eBay Plus loyalty program for buyers. Similar criteria will apply to eBay Top Service as previously applied to the eBay Plus logo. Once you meet these criteria, your listings will automatically receive the eBay Top Service logo.”

eBay told German sellers that listings eligible for the Top Service logo would receive greater visibility. Criteria include the following:

  • Fast domestic shipping with no shipping costs for buyers
  • Shipment tracking for items valued at €10 or more
  • Easy return within 30 days
  • Sellers with top ratings or above-average service status

eBay Top Service listings will be prominently highlighted by the new logo in the following areas of the eBay.de website:

  • in eBay search results
  • on the product page
  • in the shopping cart
  • at checkout

Sellers need not register for the Top Service program – the logo will appear automatically in the future for sellers who meet all the requirements.
