Newegg to Offer Support via Facebook Messenger

Newegg said this week it will be one of the first companies to offer customer support via Facebook Messenger for Business, Facebook’s instant messaging service.

Tech retailer Newegg said the new capability is an important asset to add to the company’s mobile strategy. It adds to its current support options that include email, SMS text message, phone and chat.

Newegg SVP of Sales and Marketing Merle McIntosh said, “We are investing heavily in mobile – making it easier for our customers to use our apps (iOS and Android) and our mobile site. Offering support via Messenger is the next important step to provide our customers the best possible mobile experience.”

Here’s how it works: To reach Newegg’s customer support representatives via Messenger, simply visit Newegg’s Facebook Page and message the support team. Or, search for Newegg directly from within Messenger to start a conversation.

Last year, Facebook added capabilities to make it even simpler to send and receive money within Messenger – clearly it sees a role for its messaging app in ecommerce.
