PayPal updated its mobile app which now allows customers to login to Android devices with fingerprint authentication. The new biometric login applies to devices using the Android Marshmallow operating system, such as the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Samsung Galaxy S7.
PayPal noted that it had already added fingerprint authentication for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S6 and the LG V10.
Mike Ryan, Head of Consumer Mobile App for PayPal, said, “We also enable our customers to use Apple’s Touch ID on their devices to log into the PayPal app quickly and seamlessly.”
“In fact,” he said, “on Touch ID eligible iOS devices, 60% of daily PayPal app iOS logins are done with fingerprint.”
The latest version of the PayPal app is rolling out over the next few days it in the Google Play store, see the full announcement on the PayPal corporate blog.
