eBay usually structures its seller promotions in the form of free listings, but lately it has run some sales on commission fees rather than insertion fees. On Monday, it kicked of one such invitation-only promotion.
Those invited to participate can receive a 25% discount on Final Value Fees if and when their items sell – but only in certain categories. The invitation explained: Invited sellers who activate the offer and then list in a qualifying category will receive a 25% discount on final value fees for the first 1,000 sold items that were listed during the promotion period.
Categories were extremely specific and included power tools, some clothing and accessories categories, video game consoles, home improvement, and electronic media streamers. (Note that eBay may be running variations of the promotion.)
Only fixed price listings in 30-day or Good ‘Til Cancelled durations are eligible for the promotion. Discounted final value fees apply to the total amount of the sale, including the cost of the item and shipping, excluding any sales tax.
eBay said discounted final value fees would be applied to the seller’s first 1,000 sold items for listings created during the promotion (after the seller activated the offer).
The promotion kicked off on August 22 and runs through September 12, 2016. All other fees apply, see invitation for details and promotions.
