eBay Promotes Jordan Sweetnam to Chief Commercial Officer

eBay promoted Jordan Sweetnam to the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) on March 12, 2025. His name will be familiar to many sellers, as he was Vice President of Seller Experience from 2014 – 2016 during his first 12-year stint at eBay, and head of eBay Marketplaces for his second 6-year stint after he rejoined the company in 2019. (He spent 3 years at Walmart in between.)

Sweetnam’s new salary as CCO is $735,000, and he was awarded restricted stock units valued at $4.8 million and performance-based restricted stock units valued at $7.2 million. eBay’s Offer Letter to Sweetnam also spelled out that he would be eligible to receive grants under eBay’s annual review process beginning in 2026 with an annual aggregate grant target value of $12 million. As is the case with other members of the Executive Leadership Team, he is eligible for other compensation and perks as well.

In a post on LinkedIn after the promotion was announced this week, Sweetnam said he had always felt a deep connection to eBay sellers and considered many of them to be lifelong friends.

As Chief Commercial Officer, he said he would be leading eBay’s newly created Global Marketplace Experience organization. “By bringing together Product, Category, and Regional teams, we’re setting ourselves up to move faster, collaborate more deeply, and stay focused on what matters most – our customers.”

eBay’s current head of US Marketplaces Dawn Block, who joined eBay in 2021 after 8 years at Target, has been less engaged with eBay sellers than Sweetnam had been, at least publicly – for instance, on the Seller Announcement Board. Block is scheduled to speak at the eBay virtual Seller Check-In on Wednesday where she will announce the exact date of this year’s eBay Open seller conference.

The company previously told sellers it would hold eBay Open in August both in-person and virtually where eBay will celebrate its 30-year anniversary.

  1. Toadie, lackey, and all around brown noser

Who exactly are his “customers” …. are those the ones hes forcing into arbitration?

  2. When will any leader at eBay understand they are not a seller, they are a consumer to consumer platform. They sell server space, not products. They need to make a stable platform first and last, nothing else.
