The eBay Seller News Team was back this week with another update addressing questions that were asked during its most recent quarterly Seller Check-in. The eBay Seller Announcement board posts show that Ron Jaiven, new General Manager for eBay North America, is following through on his promise to share insights and answer seller questions throughout peak season.
Last week, eBay covered the following questions:
Question #1: “What are the biggest trends and ways we can research trends for the holiday season this year on eBay?”
Question #2: “What is eBay doing to advertise during the holidays?”
Today, the news team tackled the following questions from sellers about getting better visibility for their eBay listings:
Question #1: “How do I make sure my listings are getting appropriate traffic?”
Question #2: “How can I get more buyers to see my listings using SEO?”
“eBay provides robust tools in Seller Hub to help understand your listings visibility, improve conversion, and take action,” it wrote, and went on to describe them. eBay also offered advice on using strong titles and complete item specifics to increase discoverability, stating that “better item specifics can help deliver up to 4x more traffic to your listing.”
eBay also shared a link to a video on YouTube from the Seller Check-in where eBay Senior Director of Search Pete Dainty and Google Strategic Business Lead Abby McGuckin discussed best practices. McGuckin shared that she was a strategist who worked on ways that Google and eBay can partner together to focus on the approaches, best practices and collaboration that allow eBay to grow their business effectively and then ultimately for eBay sellers as well.
It was interesting in the video to see eBay and Google sharing the stage and answering questions together. One slide during that presentation that might get sellers’ attention is when Dainty explains why it is not optimal to end-and-relist items to try to get better visibility (at minute 20:26 of the video) – well worth a watch:
