Etsy Consolidates C-Suite with Departure of Chief Product Officer

Etsy announced the departure of Chief Product Officer Nick Daniel on September 5, 2025. Rather than replace him, the company will expand the role of its current CTO Rafe Colburn, who will “expand his remit to Chief Product and Technology Officer, effective September 8, 2025.”

Etsy said Daniel is leaving Etsy to pursue other opportunities, and he’ll remain with the company in an advisory capacity until October.

Colburn will now oversee the product and engineering organizations for the Etsy marketplace, reporting to Kruti Patel Goyal, who has dual roles as well – Etsy President and Chief Growth Officer.

Etsy CEO Josh Silverman was not quoted in Thursday’s press release. Goyal said the following:

“Rafe truly understands the needs of the Etsy community, has a proven track record of scaling two-sided marketplaces, and motivates and inspires teams to deliver outstanding user experiences. With this expanded scope, Rafe will play an even greater role in ensuring that we leverage technology in a way that translates to a seamless and differentiated shopping experience. I am confident in his ability to create a better experience for our customers and help Etsy reignite growth.”

In Colburn’s statement, he said he saw a tremendous opportunity for Etsy “to harness AI and other emerging technologies to make the shopping experience even more personal, more intuitive, and more delightful—while staying true to what makes Etsy so special.”

In Daniel’s LinkedIn profile, he shared his responsibilities in his prior role as Vice President of Product in 2021 – 2022 before he had taken on the role of Chief Product Officer:
