Etsy VP to Talk about Policy and Enforcement at Wednesday Chat

Etsy is holding a fireside chat on Wednesday where its Vice President of Trust & Safety Alice Wu will discuss how Etsy keeps its marketplace safe. Wu will be joined by Sophie Duba, Senior Director of Marketplace Policy.

“Hear from Etsy’s Head of Trust & Safety and Senior Director of Policy for an in-depth look at how we craft policies, uphold integrity and keep our marketplace safe.”

While the event is advertised as a fireside chat, it’s not clear if the Wu and Duba will be taking questions from attendees. It’s likely sellers will have questions for the pair since seller policies alone span a wide range of topics crucial to sellers, from Purchase Protection to the Intellectual Property Policy and Prohibited Items.

One of the efforts Etsy launched last year to reduce fraud was to begin charging sellers a $15 fee for setting up new shops (Etsy CEO Josh Silverman said in April Etsy had raised the fee to $29).

There’s a link to RSVP to the event in Thursday’s Etsy announcement, “Community Newsletter: May 22, 2025.”
