eBay Curates Pokemon Auction of Eevee Collectibles

eBay is running a 3-day auction of Eevee collectibles, a character from the Pokemon game franchise. Calling itself the largest global online marketplace for trading cards, eBay launched “Evolving Shop” on Tuesday where collectors can bid on rare trading cards and sought-after merchandise curated by eBay.

eBay’s former General Manager for the US market Adam Ireland, now Vice President and General Manager of Global Collectibles having taken over from Gene Cooke when he left the company in July, was quoted in eBay’s press release:

“Pokémon has been a cornerstone of collecting on eBay for decades, and in 2024, we saw nearly 14,000 searches for ‘Pokémon’ every hour. With the Evolving Shop, we’re giving fans something truly special—an exclusive chance to chase rare Eeveelution cards and collectibles in a way that mirrors the excitement of the game itself. Every day, new inventory drops, and just like Eevee, the shop evolves. It’s a fun, dynamic way to celebrate Pokémon Day, and we can’t wait to see collectors jump in.”

The bidding start at 9 cents in a three-day, 24-hour auction series leading up to Pokémon Day, with new drops appearing daily at 6:00 a.m. PT from Feb. 25 to Feb. 27.

In addition to rare trading card auctions, eBay is hosting live Pokémon-themed events from Feb. 24 to March 2 on eBay Live, eBay’s interactive shopping platform accessible via the eBay app and on desktop.

Collectibles remains a key category for eBay, part of its “focus category” strategy, which eBay may discuss when it reports 4th quarter 2024 earnings tomorrow, February 26.
