Pitney Bowes made a strategic hiring when it plucked a longtime USPS executive for its own.
If anyone understands the ins and outs of the US Postal Service and the needs of its business customers here and abroad, it’s Cliff Rucker, former Senior Vice President of Sales and Customer Relations for the USPS.
Rucker joins Pitney Bowes as its new Vice President of Business Development, Commerce Services. In his new role, he’s responsible for accelerating ecommerce growth opportunities domestically and internationally.
Postmaster General Megan Brennan announced Rucker’s retirements just days before Pitney Bowes made its announcement on Monday. “Cliff instituted major reforms to improve competitiveness, focused on development of our systems, processes and people,” Brennan wrote last week.
The USPS website described his responsibilities before his retirement on Friday: customer acquisition; business and residential customer service support; revenue growth and retention; business development; and improving USPS market competitiveness and sales for all commercial mailers, including small, midsized and large businesses
Of his new assignment, Pitney Bowes wrote: “Rucker will lead business development for the Pitney Bowes Commerce Services Group, which provides tailored ecommerce solutions for retailers and marketplaces of all sizes, including Commerce Complete, the industry’s most proven, capable and scalable end-to-end global ecommerce platform, helping more than 250 direct merchants and online marketplaces ship millions of parcels to over 200 countries and territories worldwide.”
