Dear Ina,
I've been reading your blog since the beginning, and it's my "go to" every morning while I drink my coffee. I have a problem that I don't know how to fix and thought maybe you and your readers could give me some advice.
I started my Etsy store in 2006 and have used it to sell handmade jewelry, photography prints, and most recently, some custom garden flags and license plates. I have another Etsy store that is a year older where I sell my handmade beads and some raw materials for polymer clay work. I have a third Etsy store which is about the same age where I sell my own custom designed cross stitch patterns.
I have been active on Etsy for 18 years. I took a small break for a couple of years and went back to selling on Etsy again in October of 2021. I sell consistently, but nothing amazing. Most of my handmade sales are either on my website or Amazon.
Everything has been registered under my business name using my EIN. I recently decided to change my Etsy accounts from business to personal with my SSN. I changed all of the information in my accounts on July 15th. I uploaded all of my personal information to make the change. One account was verified, but the other two accounts have never been verified.
I am suspended as a risk and have nowhere to turn for help. I tried appealing, but got a canned letter saying that I am a risk and can never use Etsy again. I have re-appealed every chance I get, but the appeals are ignored. I am shut out of chat, out of the forums, out of the phone help; I can't even buy on Etsy.
I am not selling anything different, nor have I done anything other than change my name from my business to my personal name. My banking is in my name personally and my business name, so there's no discrepancy there.
I am beyond frustrated, and now, I am just angry. I am also willing to talk to the press. For a company that says they are keeping it personal, there is nothing personal about it. I have no responses other than the initial canned letter from three different people saying the exact same thing. One letter for each account that has been suspended.
Any advice? I have products better suited for Etsy than the other venues, but since their inaction has destroyed my Q3 and Q4, I am not sure what I'm going to do. In addition, I just paid for three months for over 400 products over the three stores, and of course, I can't get that money back.
Thanks for listening to my tale of woe.
Julie
