eBay Won't Switch to Free Selling Model in US

Alot of sellers are quitting because of the high shipping, online sales for small sellers are just about done.

Here in the UK it's not exactly fee free for private sellers. There are conditions, one of which being buying the postal service that ebay tells you too. It's a mess that probably just wouldn't translate to the larger American market.

As a buyer I've had no problem,so far, in evading paying the buyer "protection" fee.

Got some news for most buyers out there.  Sellers cost of goods sold frequently includes not just the item, but all other acquisition costs AND fulfillment costs, which may imbed seller fees too.

THAT explains the GREEDY company eBay has become. I will NOT sell on their site with its outrageously high fees.

Costs go up.
Everyone complains.
Sales slow down.
Everyone adjusts.
Sales go back up because it becomes the new norm.
This has gone on forever so why worry.

It’s not linear either.

sales do recover as an example about 27 billion candy bars sold in 1970 and  93 billion bars sold now.
Approximately 10 cents a bar then and approximately $1 now. 10 times the cost and 3x as many are selling now.
Consumption will not decrease unless the population severely decreases first. By that time most of will be dead. So why worry about?

1.  The world population today is approximately three times the population in 1970.  So while the number of bars in the example has tripled, the RATE (per capita if you like) is about the same.  

2.  The $0.10 you held in 1970, by inflation alone, is worth about $.90 today.  About 9x more.  

However, the SIZE of those pars, per comparable unit, has decreased significantly, especially recently.  Popularly referred to as ‘shrinkflation’.  May also have something to do with more being consumed per person, as it were.

That’s the same stupid pseudo-logic that fueled Mutually Assured Destruction.  Lookitup if you are too young to remember that nonsense.  Does that make it ok to deplete all resources without care and leave behind a polluted wasteland too?  Let the grandkids pick up your trash?  

Then again, when the curtain falls and there is nobody left to consume, there certainly would be no need to “worry” about production, OR price points.

Per capita doesn't matter to us as sellers. The fact is 3x as many are being bought. Who cares if each person bought 1 less when the total sales are 3x more because there are more people buying them.
It also doesn't matter to sellers if the size of the item is smaller if people are buying 3x as much as they used to.
Per capita only matters to the Government. Size only matters if sales significantly decrease. bottom line, 3x more are being sold.
