eBay Seller Surprised by Expedited Payout Fees

By: Reader

Dear Ina,
I just realized that eBay is charging me $1 to get me expedited payment. I have my payment set to every week on Tuesday. They use to send it out on Tuesday and I would have it Wednesday or sometimes Thursday. However, as of late I have seen it show up in my bank account on Tuesday.

I thought this strange, so I looked into it. Come to find out that for some reason eBay set me up to have the expedited payments every week. It normally costs $2 but I was getting it for $1. I did not sign up for this service. I did a few weeks ago asked for the money before the normal Tuesday transfer of money. So maybe eBay set it up for me to happen every week.

I just wanted others to know that eBay may have signed you up for this without you knowing it and you may be paying for it without actually knowing it!
K.

Does not surprise me at all since a great deal of eBay's income is from:

A. Massive consumer fraud scams, such as their implementation of FVF on shipping.

B. So called "glitches" that end up charging sellers for services they did not order.

Sociopaths with a total lack of innovation. Stealing other people's ideas will only carry you for so long. That is why eBay is now #3 behind Amazon and Shopify.

Ebay doesn't have a payout option that has a $1 fee.  So something else is going on...

You
can see what your payment schedule is in the Payment tab in the Seller Hub.

I too have my payments processed on Tuesdays.  And I noticed last week is was released in the early morning and I actually had the money in my account late the same day.  But I wasn't charged anything.

“ Ebay doesn't have a payout option that has a $1 fee.  So something else is going on...”

Perhaps you missed this ECB headline article?

“ eBay Runs Half-Off Sale on Express Payouts.”

To be fair of course, it wasn’t published here until the 15th.  So apparently the “something else going on” was another one of eBay’s unannounced ‘enhancements’, albeit temporary, that as is typical, may have been released without ensuring all the pesky substandard programming bugs were exterminated first.

Which costs money of course.  Even more that that whole ‘dollar’ they are graciously rebating - temporarily- for the fee they charge you to collect YOUR OWN MONEY.

Yeah.  eBay.  Always something ELSE “going on”.  Who can keep up?
