eBay sellers were scrambling to find an alternative listing tool after receiving an email on April 29 informing them that inkFrog was shutting down. The email from inkFrog, which its founder had
sold to Wix in 2020, informed customers they had until May 31, 2026 to export their listing data into CSV format for download.
"From small store's perspective, getting this news with only 4 weeks to move everything that you've built on the last few years is ... challenging," an eBay seller told us. "Obviously grateful for their team's work that's been helpful. Sad to see them go."
"Indeed... a shocking announcement today... as we've been using inkFrog (Wix) with our eBay listings for nearly 20 years... and on June 1, 2026... they're completely shutting down?? Unfortunately... we're now left with mobilizing an alternate listing platform... within only a few weeks. Talk about a sucker punch!
"How could a major platform like Wix do something like this with so little notice? In an instant... we've learned how vulnerable online small businesses actually are... So much for trust. Now... it's a mad scramble to figure out how we can survive. THANKS FOR NOTHING, INKFROG!"
In the same thread, a seller speculated that Wix made the decision after being inundated by complaints during eBay's outages that began on Sunday. But closure may have been inevitable - Wix made the decision last year to retire inkFrog Classic, but gave users the option to migrate to inkFrog Open at the same price.
"I'm really thankful for the service over the years, and genuinely sorry to see inkFrog shutting its doors. It has been a solid part of our backend for a long time. Would it be possible to pass on feedback requesting that inkFrog considers keeping account access open a little longer? Even an extra 2 to 4 weeks beyond 1 June would mean a lot. I fully accept this is the new reality, but for small merchants, four weeks from today is an extremely tight timeline to export data, test alternatives, validate workflows and migrate properly. It is a fairly major operational change to absorb at short notice (!). Even limited, non syncing access until 1 July 2026 would give merchants some much needed extra runway."
We reached out to our PR contact at Wix to confirm it had sent today's email and learn more about its decision, which gives lower-volume sellers fewer options - eBay stopped supporting its TurboLister tool in 2020. We'll update this post when we learn more.
Today, sellers who don't use a third-party listing tool reported problems with eBay's own inventory feature. A seller reported that they had over 10,000 listing templates and, as of today, have
zero access to their inventory, with a "Something is wrong" banner displaying.
Update 4/30/2026: Other tools are stepping up to let inkFrog customers know about their offerings and help with migration, see today's
EcommerceBytes Newsflash article.
