The
USPS is raising shipping rates in January, and it won't end there. On Friday, Postmaster General David Steiner said he will ask Congress and the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) for "more flexibility and common sense modifications" in how it is regulated, specifically mentioning "pricing limitations" as one of the pressures the USPS faces.
The price of a stamp will remain unchanged when Competitive (shipping) rates rise on January 18, 2026. The USPS had previously announced it would not raise prices for Market Dominant (mailing) services in January - though it will raise them in July, if history holds.
