eBay Confirms Seller Feedback Glitch

eBay confirmed it is looking into a glitch with its feedback system that buyers use to evaluate sellers before making a purchase. A seller also reported that the Automatic Feedback system appeared to be lagging or broken.

A seller first reported the glitch in an eBay discussion board thread on June 18, saying the issue had been haunting their account for the past couple of weeks:

"Is anyone else experiencing inaccuracies on their feedback page? The feedback numbers in my table have been flip-flopping for the past couple of weeks. I have used the ? to report the issue to eBay, and also reported it through Instagram; however, the issue persists."

The screenshot the seller shared shows a response from an eBay customer service rep who told the seller it was a known issue "where our seller's feedback profile page is displaying discrepancy in feedback counts for positive, neutral and negative feedback across the 1-month, 6-month, and 12-month."

An eBay moderator responded on July 6, thanking the seller for reporting the "feedback discrepancy" and stating that eBay had an open alert for the issue (ALERT16721). Unfortunately for sellers, eBay no longer keeps a central log of technical issues for them to report issues and check their status, making it more difficult for sellers to track glitches and resolutions.

A seller who responded to the thread said a negative feedback that should have rolled off their account "keeps coming back, then disappearing, then coming back, then disappearing."

The original poster also responded on July 9 to report they had not received automatic feedback 8 days after delivery on an order that was delivered to their buyer on June 30th:

"34 items were delivered on June 30th. No feedback from the buyer yet, and no case opened. Normally, I see the automatic feedback on day 8 after delivery. Nothing yesterday. I realize this could be lag time with the automatic feedback, but I am keeping an eye on it."

There are no such things as glitches on eBay.

One or more persons had to code in multiple languages for this to happen. One or more languages running the backend servers, databases and so on. One or more languages parsing data so it displays correctly in your browser or phone.

I noticed "strange" feedback a couple of weeks ago.

A seller was on 97% with no negs showing in the feedback ratings, Despite a neg right at the top of the list below. And clicking on the 0 in the ratings brought up the neg.

A week later and it was still the same.

eBay also continues to ruin Facebook marketplace by inserting ads into local feeds so that the bast majority of each category are eBay ads.

Now you have to employ a blocker in your browser which grays out the eBay ads, but you still have to scroll past all the crap.

Facebook has starting to insert messages into your private conversations if you mention Zelle in the conversation (see screenshot link below).

No way in hell would I accept anything else for items I ship from Facebook Marketplace since Facebook payments, PayPal, Venmo and similar forms of payment are for sellers who like to get ripped off and send out free merchandise and shipping to customers.

They just started this the last few days as a item I shipped earlier this week had no such warnings.

Facebook Marketplace has not recovered since it decimated by Covid-19 and they are going everything to destroy any shipped orders also.

I've noticed a few sellers mentioning the same thing. Inaccurate feedback counts and delayed automatic feedback can affect buyer trust, so hopefully eBay resolves ALERT16721 soon. Better communication and a public status page for seller issues would make situations like this much less frustrating.
