eBay Outage Hits Tuesday Evening, July 14th

eBay buyers and sellers were unable to access the homepage for a short time on Tuesday evening, July 14, 2026, and had difficulty buying and selling. Reports of problems started coming in after 8:00 pm Eastern, with reports the eBay site was back to normal by about 8:45 pm.

People reporting problems on Down Detector show how significant the problems were during the narrow window on Tuesday for both buyers (one buyer was upset because they had been attempting to buy a limited edition collectible, another buyer was outbid due to the technical difficulties) and sellers who said they were unable to list items - and one who was in the middle of preparing a shipping label for an order when they were disrupted.

Some of the issues reported include the following:

"Website crashed mid shipping for a customer"

"I really wish it went down for the guy who outbid me at the last second"

"Only happens when I'm listing something"

"Tried to check my cart, no go"

"WTF! I was literally buying a limited edition labubu!"

Reports that the site was back up began coming in at around 8:45 pm.

A seller reported the problem on Ecommerce EKG at 8:33 pm Eastern ("All links to all eBay sites are down," the seller reported). People also reported the issue on the eBay "Report eBay Technical Issues" Discussion Board.

This never happens at Amazon. Why do they allow testing on the live site? Or were they hacked? Again.

How would anyone know?  It's dead as a door nail this summer.  Most of my sales are coming from other sites and my own site.

Fortunately it was very short lived.  For me personally it was less than 5 minutes.  Then one other time a couple hours later for about 30 seconds.  Since then, speaking for myself only, the site has remained available.

Glad it did shut down, stop me from listing items I would lose money on the new shipping increase

@terry
Then that is good news for you.  There certainly are other similar sites to give a try.  Maybe they will be better for you.  I sell on multiple sites and have for years.  I don't put my eggs all in one basket so to speak.  It has served me well.
