eBay Removes Another Key Resource for Sellers

eBay removed the last remaining centralized location for checking for known glitches. Now, sellers must hunt around to see if others are experiencing the same problem. Alternatively, they can reach out to customer service, even though eBay reps have a reputation for being the last to know about technical issues.

On November 23, a seller asked moderators, "What happened to your pinned post on the Report Technical Issues Board?" An eBay moderator named Devon replied:

"Hey @mcdougle4248! We removed the pinned post but we still share ALERT numbers within individual threads when there are issues that are being reported."

When the original poster indicated they were disappointed by the decision, another seller agreed:

"yep......doesn't make sense to reply on individual threads........there will just be more questions, chasing down answers on the one thread where there "might be" an answer/acknowledgement and no one central place to look to see if problems are ebay issues or our own....... We fought long and hard for that thread and very discouraging it's gone...........with no discussion with the people who used it."

Removing the pinned thread where eBay posted known issues is likely to raise eBay costs since more sellers will reach out to customer service, and it certainly won't help eBay sales since glitches stop sellers in their tracks.

In the somewhat recent past, eBay would hold weekly (then monthly) chat sessions where sellers could report issues and probe eBay staffers for answers. But that too is a seller resource that eBay eliminated - see last year's post, "Why Is eBay So Averse to Communicating with Sellers?"

This is all about eBay not wanting to admit to any and problems on their site.

eBay want users to believe everything is all hunky-dory.

eBay wants you to believe its all one "Community" as opposed to sociopathic management only interested in themselves.

eBay customer service are compulsive liars there to tow the company line. In many cases you are talking to someone in a Indian call center, that have no practical knowledge about selling or shipping to understand even the most simplest concepts.

eBay removed the ability to list items with commercial rates and retail rates at the same time after USPS's July, 2023, consolidation of various services into Ground Advantage and Ground Advantage - Retail.

The fact that they removed the ability shows how little they know about shipping and how little they care about you. This was brought to their attention back in July of 2023 and they've done nothing.

I have my eBay carrier discounts set to retail for USPS. Certain large items subject to dimension rates require the commercial rate as the retail rate is too high and UPS Ground commercial rate is to high. But there is no way to list these large items with a commercial Ground Advantage rate as the bulk of my items require Ground Advantage Retail rates due to their small size.

Prior to July of 2023 we could set our USPS carrier discounts to the retail rate, but override this on individual listing by selecting Parcel Select on the listing form to charge the customer the commercial rate.

eBay has failed to add Ground Advantage and Ground Advantage Retail to the listing form so one could override their eBay carrier discounts as before.

Instead of mixing the issue with their billions of dollars in cash and thousands of employees they lie and deny. These morons really think someone is going to believe that its USPS preventing them from adding Ground Advantage and Ground Advantage Retail to the listing form. Not even good lies any more for the fees I pay them. God help the newbs on the site who would actually believe this b.s.

A special place in hell for these people would be way too kind for them.

The traditional pre Thanksgiving Eve pizza we ordered from a well known national chain was of a ‘stuffed crust’ variety.  Only this year, crust was half ‘stuffed’ and the toppings were centered, including sauce, extending to only about maybe 80% of the available space, leaving a large margin of unabashedly ‘unstuffed’ crust around the inner circumference.

Only the latest but very visually evident example of what in the inflation denial vernacular translates as ‘shrinkage’.  Perhaps you’ve seen others lately.  If you’re paying attention.  If you are not in denial about it.

And now, one less ‘service’ from a self aggrandizing service company - remember they provide NO tangible goods - that they now need spend no more money on.

Which in the end analysis they never really did correctly or competently in the first place. Which translates to obvious doubt that any concern for value to the customer, either way, even entered into the decision process at all.

Any way you slice it.

You could say ebay is bad at customer service

You could say eBay is bad at getting new buyers and sellers

You could say eBay is bad at its interpretation of US trade laws

But the ONE THING you cant say eBay is bad at - is hurting sellers - THAT they have down to a science. I never used this feature - but its eBay removing something some sellers are using - sorry to say - buut its de rigur for the people in San Jose!

You are likely to loose some brain cells talking to anyone from eBay.

eBay sends me a message that similar items sell for 25% less, yet can't provide me with any links to these similar items.

There are no similar items as the item was custom built by hand nearly 120 years ago. Similar would be like saying a Pinto is similar to Ferrari because they are both cars.

While telling me to lower the price they refuse to fix the long standing issue from July of 2023 of no longer being to list items with commercial rates and retail rates at the same time. This means no commercial rate on this larger item as my other smaller items require retail rates.

The retail rate to Alaska is around $75, but would be $42 commercial. UPS Ground commercial is not an option as its $92. FedEx is not an option as its 20 miles one way drive just to get there during their limited hours.

MORONS!
