Bookseller Describes Recent Challenges on Amazon

Dear Ina,
I am a tiny bookseller who doesn't make a lot on Amazon anymore, and I also had a mysterious Other fee show up a few weeks ago, and was told they could not determine the reason for it and I would have to check again after my next payout.

Because it was under $10, I just decided my time was worth more than the run around from teams telling me what they could NOT do for me.

Also, I wasn't sure if you saw on the Amazon discussion boards in the past month or so that booksellers can NO LONGER create product pages for books. Only publishers are allowed to do that.*

Being able to create listings for books not on Amazon was one of the privileges of those with a Professional Selling account $39.99 / mo. But they have changed it so that publishers only can create product pages, and all the sellers are asking, well what about the books the publishers decide not to create a listing for? And what about out of print books where the publishers are out of business?

Amazon has not answered that with anything but a canned response. That they basically heard the question and here is the new policy.
C.

Complete morons!

I did not have a Professional Selling account and was able to do that for the years I sold books there.

Many of the books I like to sell were printed privately with very limited runs so there is no way the publisher (i.e., the author) will ever create a product page especially since they are long dead in most cases.

So much for Amazon being a source for hard to find books.
