Amazon Seller Sees Sudden Jump in USPS Costs

Dear Ina,
More postage confusion. I think the surprise USPS change on eBay may be also happening on Amazon.

I shipped a few priority flat rate items Monday (18th), but shipping the same mailers today showed prices of over $11 (up from $8-9). When chatting with SS, they confirmed that Amazon has implemented Commercial Base rates instead of Commercial Plus.

They did not answer my question if this was intentional, temporary, affected everyone, etc. Most likely they also were requested to change rates and accidentally implemented the Commercial Base rate files rather than the Commercial Plus ones.

It is unknown whether Amazon mixed them up, or if they were sent the wrong files from USPS.
B.

Yeah something has happened to Amazon rates. It's very murky the information that has been released, it just says changes are platform specific which implies it isn't just Ebay that's affected. Rates on Amazon have jumped and they are no longer predictable. For two packages with the same weight (4 oz) and going to the same zone I'm being shown 2 different rates. Rates are expected to move up significantly again in July (over 11% from what I have seen).

"Commercial Base rates instead of Commercial Plus"

I was under the impression these have not existed for several years.

These were listed in one or more Notice 123 publications from USPS from 2022, but with same same rates for both, effectively getting rid of Base and Plus.

By the January 22, 2023, Notice 123 there is only one Commercial rate, confirming the change to only one rate.
