Amazon will open a new 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in Tracy, California. It joins another new California fulfillment center that opened in San Bernardino in October 2012. Amazon.com is also building a site in Patterson, California that will open in the summer.
The Tracy facility will contain a state-of-the-art automated technology fulfillment center. The company said Amazon employees "will engage with high-end technology while fulfilling customer orders."
Amazon recently announced plans to build a 1 million-square-foot state-of-the-art fulfillment center in Robbinsville, New Jersey, adding to plans to build two other new fulfillment centers in New Jersey this year.
And last month, Amazon announced it would spend over $100 million to open a 1 million-square-foot fulfillment center in DuPont, Washington.
