eBay UK Promo and International Shipping Rates Added to Listings
By Ina Steiner
eBay UK is running a promotion for sellers and also announced it would add international shipping-rates to listings this month.
eBay UK usually runs a free-listing promotion for casual sellers on the weekends, this one is unusual in that it runs for 9 days. The promotion kicked off on September 1st and runs through September 9th. Private (casual) sellers can list up to 150 free auction-style listings in eligible categories on eBay.co.uk. To take part in the promotion, sellers must be registered as resident in the UK.
eBay UK reminded sellers that if they registered after March 15, 2011 or have not listed any items for a while, they may have a restricted selling allowance of a maximum of 10 items per month. All other fees apply, see website for details and restrictions.
eBay UK is also introducing international shipping rate tables. "Coming in September, you'll be able to tailor shipping costs and services by country in your eBay.co.uk listings with international shipping rate tables. This is helpful if you want to offer different services or costs for posting your item to different countries."
eBay told its UK users that if they wished to boost international sales, they should make sure to offer international shipping and PayPal. "Your products will then be automatically listed on eBay.com - the world's biggest eBay marketplace. We're enhancing this site to allow international buyers from high potential countries such as Russia, China and Brazil to find the items they're looking for," according to the announcement.
International buyers will only see items that are shipped to their respective country. "Furthermore we will offer on-demand translation on the View Item page for item title and description to make it easier for international buyers to buy your items," eBay UK continued.
eBay.com will soon launch a program in which it facilitates the international portion of overseas orders - see more on the eBay Global Shipping Program here.
